Travel Diary Blues
Bonjour! I’m bringing the travel diary back while I attend my very first Cannes Film Festival. So far the most eventful thing that has happened is the washing machine in our AirBnB is being mighty strange and I think I will refrain from doing another load if I ever get my clothes back from this beast.
On the way here I had a layover in my beloved Atlanta and in the International Terminal my gate had the coolest art exhibit I have ever seen in an airport. I did a little research and discovered it is called Southern Icons by Joni Mabe. I wish all airports had sharing public art as part of their mission statement.
The flight from Atlanta to Nice wasn’t too bad aside from having to wake up at 3am ET / 9am France time to select tickets (the ticking system for Cannes is definitely something you need to master over a few years I am coming to believe). I had a blast on the shuttle from Nice to Cannes, and really enjoyed seeing the countryside.
Of course I had to take a requisite palm tree photograph as soon as I got to Cannes proper. The trees are so beautiful and I’ve already seen so many gorgeous pigeons and seagulls!
After picking up our badges, Robert Daniels and I had a drink and then checked into our place. Then we got some groceries at a nearby Aldi before heading to our first party, where we met up with so many of our favorite film people. Tomorrow is the first day of films and I am excited to experience all the madness first hand. Multiple people have told me that eventually I will cry in public. Allons-y!

Have the best time 💜
Can't wait to read the dispatches - enjoy!
Also, there's an ALDI in Cannes, France???
