This week I am recommending a new Palestinian drama, a documentary about Neil Young, the films of Ulrike Ottinger, Gia Coppola’s sophomore effort, a charming coastal fable by Isabel Coixet, a screwball noir by Susan Seidelman, and some free films on Criterion Channel.
Next week my book tour resumes with a two-night stint at The Brattle in Cambridge, MA. On April 16th I will be introducing a 25th anniversary screening of the new 4k restoration of Gina Prince-Bythewood’s Love and Basketball, followed by a screening of the new 4k restoration of Lizzie Borden’s Working Girls. If you stay for both movies I will explain why this is a perfect double feature! On April 17th I will be in conversation with filmmaker Bette Gordon as we screen her films Variety and Luminous Motion. You can find tickets and showtimes for the screenings here.
