This week I am recommending one of the year’s best films—and one of the worst—, as well as three new documentaries, a trailblazing graphic novel adaptation, a short film set during quarantine, and a Palestinian drama set in the Occupied West Bank.

Once again one of the best films I saw this year was a Sundance debut. Nothing could have prepared me for the emotional wallop that is Eva Victor’s1 debut film Sorry, Baby. I knew Victor from their viral videos on Twitter and I saw the first look image of the film with the kitten, and went in with the preconceived notion that this would be a zany indie comedy. Dear readers, while this film has an undercurrent of mordant humor, it is by no means a “ha ha” comedy.
